While up to our eyeballs in “Shelter at home” directives, Heather and Jen strive to be a continued positive voice. After RunDisney’s Star Wars Rival Run was canceled, they each recap how they adapted their would-be Disney weekend. Then the conversation turns to what it means to be a runner, and how we learned that we do belong in this community and on that start line.
In today’s podcast we dive into some of our favorite apps that we use for our running and fitness journey and we talk about some of the apps you mentioned in the Runners Without Limits Facebook Group. From running-specific apps to cross training to safety and nutrition, we talk about the pros and cons based on our personal experiences.
Episode 52: Same Podcast, New Name
Special Announcement — We’ve changed the name of this podcast! Heather and Jen discuss the reasons why, as well as how we are coping with the new normal. We catch up with each other in this fun, hopefully positive episode. We really just want to keep you smiling right now. As we navigate through this challenging time, we hope you are staying safe and healthy. Remember, that you have no limits!
Listener Request! We dive into all things treadmills on today’s podcast thanks to a listener. Heather and Jen both have treadmills and acquired them in two very different ways, so we discuss what we looked for when acquiring our treadmills and how we use them.
We were super inspired to talk to adaptive athlete, Wendy Larsen on today’s podcast. Wendy competes in the hand-cycle division at many races. Be inspired by her story and learn more about what it’s like to be an adaptive athlete.
It’s no secret that we are living in strange and unsettling times. Our “normal” is challenged. We are living and working and teaching at home while the world is reeling from the Coronavirus Pandemic.
It is for this reason that we make a slight departure from a running focus and turn to our mental and emotional health. In this episode, Heather and Jen talk with the founder and CEO of Prezence, Colleen Hayes. Prezence is an app and a website which focus on being mindful. Colleen explains how we manage our health during this uncertain time, and we found this was an impactful conversation from which we hope all of you will benefit.
While Jen was out and about being her awesome self, Heather held down the podcasting fort with our dear friend and fellow coach, Laura Frye. As our first return guest, Heather and Laura trade stories about why they wanted to become coaches through the Road Runners Club of America, and the not-so-smooth path to get there. They discuss the changes in the sport of running, along with the continued “Old-School” thinking about what runners want from their journey.
The Olympic Marathon Trials were a big deal for the United States Team. Unprecedented numbers of qualifiers appeared in Atlanta to run for 6 slots. Three men and three women would be selected from a field of almost 700 runners. Heather and Jen discuss this amazing event and how it speaks to the evolution of running as a sport.
After a 3 week hiatus, Heather and Jen catch up over their latest adventures, including Jen’s experience Volunteering for RunDisney’s Princess 5k. They also chat about their love of women’s targeted races, and how they are a wonderful aspect to the running community.
In this inspiring podcast we sit down with Beth from TriTwinsMom on YouTube. Beth is an 8-time Ironman finisher and has run the Dopey Challenge multiple times. She talks about her journey and how she’s able to balance it all with her family.
In today’s Valentine’s inspired podcast Heather and Jen talk about what they love and hate about running. The loves certainly outweigh our dislikes and keep us coming back for more time after time. So while not every run is perfect, not every piece of gear is ideal and not every comment is loving, running does something for our hearts in more ways than one.
In today’s podcast Heather and Jen talk about what they wear for a race. We start by talking about our running kits and dive into how we elaborate on them for themed races like runDisney, run Rock n Roll, Wonder Woman, Holiday races and more. Whatever race you are running we hope that whatever you decide to wear brings you lots of joy.
